A weekend in Norfolk
March 2026
Sheringham sits along the North Norfolk coast, a small seaside town shaped by fishing heritage and long stretches of open beach. In winter it slows down noticeably — the summer crowds disappear and the town settles into a quieter rhythm.
The first morning we headed down to the seafront while the tide was out, leaving wide sandy stretches exposed below the promenade. People moved slowly along the shoreline, walking dogs or stopping briefly by the cafés and small shops that line the high street. Sheringham still holds onto a strong independent character — bakeries, greengrocers and small storefronts that feel unchanged by the seasons.
The following day we walked through the fields near Sheringham Park with Olive, Red and Beau. The weather had turned damp overnight and the grass carried a soft layer of dew, muting the colours and flattening the light. It created a calm, slightly weathered atmosphere that suited the landscape well. The dogs ran endlessly through the open fields — Olive determined to keep the ball in play, occasionally disappearing head-first into the molehills scattered across the grass.
Most of the photographs from the trip came from these quieter moments — the soft winter light along the coast, small interactions around the town, and the open countryside just beyond it.
