Morning walk in London

March 2026

A short walk through the City of London before the streets fully filled for the day.

I started near Liverpool Street, catching an early glimpse of 20 Fenchurch Street — the Sky Garden — before wandering aimlessly toward Spitalfields. Down a narrow lane I found a good rhythm of people moving through the space, including a couple who briefly stepped into the frame in a way that brought the composition together.

From there I headed toward Bank, where the pale stone buildings and open streets worked well with the softer tones I tend to favour. One moment stood out as a suited worker stepped out of Bank Station and crossed the frame — everything aligned perfectly for a split second.

I spent a little longer around the Royal Exchange, where someone sitting long enough allowed a slower shutter to capture a small moment of movement against the still architecture.

The walk ended at St Paul’s Cathedral from Millennium Bridge. Finding the right composition there can be tricky — the scale of the cathedral means you often need to be much closer than expected. With only about an hour and a half to explore the area, it was a quick but intense morning, though the limited time made the whole walk feel more focused.
