Leigh-on-Sea, late afternoon

April 2026

Started up in Leigh-on-Sea’s park, with the sun lightly coming through. People sitting along the benches, dogs off leads chasing balls around, cyclists coming through the paths every so often. It felt like a really quiet afternoon.

Walked down Leigh Steps into Old Leigh after that and it picked up quite a bit. Windy along the coast, cobblestone streets, pubs full with people standing outside with drinks, groups just spilling out into the road. Ice cream places had queues, kids already halfway through them before they’d even left the shop, dogs pulling people along between everything.

Old Leigh has a lot of narrow alleys between pubs and small cottages leading through to the sea, so you get these quiet gaps in between the busier streets.
